Mosquito Vector Workshop in Lubbock, May 8

Warmer weather means the potential for mosquitoes! This may be cause for alarm as a recent study by the CDC shows that diseases from mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas have tripled over the last decade. Increasing temperatures may be one of the main reasons behind this jump. For example, higher temperatures allow ticks to move into new areas and mosquitoes to breed faster.

Learn more about mosquito biology, illnesses transmitted by mosquitoes and what you can do to protect yourself at this year's Mosquito Vector Workshop in Lubbock on May 8. It starts at 8:00am at the Agrilife Research and Education Center in Lubbock and will offer 5 CEUs.

Topics include:

  • Mosquito ID and biology
  • Mosquito-borne diseases
  • Laws and regulations update
  • Integrated mosquito management
  • Pesticide chemistry
